First, we wanted to embrace the clients love of Art-Deco and infuse their own quirky, bold taste into the space. Second, they have an extensive collection of Italian and Czech Glassware and German Pottery,s o the bright colours and bold shapes were to be displayed somewhere in the space – and played into the idea of a bold, colourful aesthetic. Our intention was to ‘splice’ the existing cottage, opening the existing dining room up tothe addition and joining the two with the long, pink terrazzo topped island bench/dining table. The rear of the addition would bring this Art-Deco vibeinto a slightly tropical backyard, creating a unique little oasis in the suburbs.
